A Boot Camp for young cre­ative people

We’re on the look-out for young peo­ple with ‘the App Fac­tor’ — bright ideas and an ambi­tion to work in Manchester’s Cre­ative Industries.

Coached by lead­ing cre­ative pro­fes­sion­als, you will learn essen­tial cre­ative busi­ness skills and how to turn your ideas into real­ity — you’ll also get to work with some of Manchester’s top cre­ative businesses!

And the great news is that you don’t need any tech­ni­cal know-how — all you need are some cre­ative ideas and a bit of drive and ambition.

Who?

- Look­ing to get into the cre­ative indus­tries?
– Full of ideas and ambi­tion?
– Based in the Man­ches­ter ‘city coun­cil’ area?
– Aged between 18 & 24?

If so, The App School is for you!

We’ll be tak­ing 10 lucky indi­vid­u­als on a jour­ney to develop their ideas for a mobile phone ‘app’ – by work­ing with some of the best train­ers and cre­ative com­pa­nies in Manchester.

If you’re cho­sen, you’ll get the chance to work on your ideas through a series of three ‘ideas’ work­shops, begin­ning at the end of Feb­ru­ary. You’ll also attend four boot camp ses­sions that will give you essen­tial cre­ative busi­ness know-how about man­ag­ing projects and money, team work­ing, and pre­sent­ing your work.

What?

At the end of The App School, you will be able to pitch your worked-up plans for your App to 7a panel of cre­ative com­pa­nies — and if they like what they see, they’ll build the app for you and get it on the iTunes Store!!! Whether your app is selected or not, you’ll have learnt a mas­sive amount and have fan­tas­tic indus­try con­tacts — improv­ing your chances of get­ting a  job in the cre­ative indus­tries in Man­ches­ter. In addi­tion, we’ll be cre­at­ing an online doc­u­men­tary about the scheme, which will go out on www.CREATIVETimes.co.uk
